The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island, 18 miles south of Juneau, Alaska, is an underground polymetallic mine employing approximately 280 people. The mine is a joint venture between Kennecott Minerals and Hecla Mining and is a subsidiary of Rio Tinto, a world leader in finding, mining and processing the earth’s mineral resources in an economically, socially and environmentally responsible manner. 

Winner of numerous safety and environmental awards, Greens Creek is seeking a Reliability Engineer committed to professional growth and success. Greens Creek will cover all relocation expenses for the selected candidate.

The person in this position will play an integral role in assuring the ongoing reliable operation of equipment at the mine, and will provide critical support to operations, maintenance and mine management teams. Additionally, the position will be involved with many other initiatives including, but not limited to:

• Developing equipment criticality assessments by utilizing risk-based analysis to prioritize and optimize asset management programs.
• Establishing Condition Monitoring systems based on appropriate technologies to optimize maintenance plans and reduce unexpected failures of critical assets.
• Implementing Hydrocarbon Management Best Practice by investigating existing supply and delivery systems and designing improvements to improve overall equipment reliability.
• Performing defect elimination by using Root Cause Analysis tools to determine likely failure modes and determine corrective actions to increase asset reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
• Developing and reviewing maintenance tactics using reliability tools to optimize preventative and predictive maintenance plans to lower costs and increase reliability.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) or equivalent with two or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• PE Certification preferred but not required.
• Engineering background with machine knowledge preferred.
• The person in this position must be able to learn quickly and work well with others.
