Senior Quality Control Inspector - Fort Calhoun Station, Nebraska
Responsibilities
Perform inspections and conduct surveillances of maintenance, operations, and plant modification activities.
Provide day-to-day coordination of QC inspection/surveillance/observation activities.
Review QCIR inspection and surveillance reports. Evaluate data for trends, and make appropriate recommendations to management.
Review and maintain QC procedures.
Assist with the Coordination of QC training activities to ensure QC personnel obtain and maintain appropriate certifications.
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the Quality budget and business plan.
Serve as alternate for the Supervisor - Quality Control when so assigned.
Perform selected NDE inspections at Fort Calhoun Station and other facilities as required.
Identify and document conditions adverse to quality.
Maintain proficiency in and provide interpretation of applicable codes, standards, regulatory documents and OPPD Procedures and Policies.
Support other OPPD departments as required.
Function as a team player and have the ability to be flexible and to accept multiple job assignments.
Conduct QC inspection activities after normal working hours, on weekends, and shift work for designated outages and station support needs.
Review work documents to assure appropriate quality hold points are included.
Support the OPPD QA Audit Plan/Schedule by serving as an audit team member
Conduct other activities as assigned to support quality activities at OPPD.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Support other utility outages in support of the Utility Services Alliance (USA) initiatives.
The supervisor or manager may assign other duties.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide quality nuclear area inspection and surveillance activities in a timely and cost effective manner. These services must meet or exceed applicable regulatory requirements and INPO standards.
Senior Quality Control Inspectors are to perform the duties and responsibilities of Quality Control Inspectors, coordinate the day-to-day inspection/surveillance activities of the group, perform NDE inspections as needed, and assist with the administrative duties of the department.
Participate in and/or actively support the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station’s Emergency Response Organization.
Keep the Supervisor - Quality Control informed of all activities and results.
Regular and reliable level of attendance and punctuality is required.
In accordance with Paragraph H of Section III of the District’s Affirmative Action Plan, this Supervisor/Manager position is responsible for actively involving himself/ herself in the Affirmative Action Program. His/her performance, with regard to the Affirmative Action Program, will be considered in his/her annual appraisal and compensation.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION:
Must have a working knowledge of computer applications (Windows, Word, Excel) and general PC use.
Is required to be familiar with ASME codes, NRC regulations and various Industry Standards (e.g., ANSI, USAS, AWS).
Is required to have a strong knowledge in the use of OPPD/FCS Policies and Procedures.
Must have good working knowledge of conventional and/or nuclear power plant activities.
ABILITY/SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS:
Must possess good oral and written communication skills to effectively report results of inspections and surveillances.
Possession of two or more certifications in a discipline per ANSI N45.2.6 is required, or must posses the training records, experience and capability of acquiring those certifications.
Possession of one or more CP-189 (NDE, i.e., PT, MT, UT, RT, VT) certifications is required.
Experience in and/or possession of certification to the requirements contained in CP-189 is highly desirable.
Must possess good human relation’s skills and be able to work effectively with all levels of plant and company personnel.
Must be able to plan, organize and execute surveillance activities or field observations with minimal supervision.
Must be able to plan, organize and execute inspection activities with minimal supervision.
Must meet the security requirements for unescorted access to Fort Calhoun Station and meet requirements for respirator qualification.
Must be able to serve as the Acting Supervisor - Quality Control on an as needed basis.
Must meet the vision requirements for certification in NDE methods and ANSI 45.2.6 categories.
Knowledge of Vibration Analysis a plus.
Knowledge of Oil Analysis a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience involving nuclear power plant activities, including mechanical and/or electrical and/or construction.
