Plant Manager - Theodore, Alabama
Holcim (US) has an opportunity for an experienced Plant Manager for its Theodore, Alabama facility. In cement production, safety can never be taken for granted and we work to continuously improve all aspects of its operation to assure the highest level of safety. As the Plant Manager reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing for the East Region, you will provide leadership, guidance and direction for plant operations and ensure sustainable performance aligned with Holcim objectives, core values, and guiding behaviors while delivering on Holcim’s business commitments.
The ideal candidate must be capable of working effectively with operating personnel as well as senior executives to lead change and influence the culture. We are seeking candidates that demonstrate themselves as an unwavering leader, teacher, and solid champion of safe work practices, systems and plant operations setting the safety and health of employees and the community as the highest priority.
Key Responsibilities:
• Proactively represent Holcim with the community, customers, and various governmental agencies
• Demonstrate an effective understanding of financial processes, through a solid business sense, to integrate technical and economic concepts
• Propose and execute capital expenditures maximizing value to the operation and consistent with a low cost strategy; while maintaining accountability for proposed ‘value added’ return.
• Demonstrate the ability to utilize performance management processes and tools to manage performance and development of direct reports and the teams they lead
• Provide leadership in continuous learning and team involvement
• Actively support and promote the commitment to implement standard best practices, tools, and processes in a high performance/high involvement environment
• Implement strategies consistent with the company’s vision and business plan
Key Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering
• 6-10 years combined management level and heavy industrial manufacturing environment experience
• Multi-plant experience is desired
• Technical knowledge of manufacturing, quarry operations, raw materials and maintenance management
• Knowledge of ISO Standards and certification process
• Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, formal and informal written); ability to productively interface with a variety of stakeholders (community leaders, regulators, customers, and employees)
• Willingness to make decisions; demonstrated sense of urgency
• Ability to allocate decision-making authority/task responsibility to appropriate others to maximize effectiveness
