Job Summary:

Responsible for optimizing performance and reliability of assigned components at Calvert Cliffs.  Develops and maintains preventative maintenance practices for assigned components.  Initiates corrective actions for adverse conditions and trends.  Maintains a high level of expertise and ownership for the operation and maintenance of assigned components.  Provides component specific expertise to assist in Troubleshooting, Failure Cause Analysis and Preventative and Corrective maintenance within Online and Outage execution.  Provides assistance to Maintenance groups in the field and performs field walkdowns.  Develops and maintains Component Health Reports.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Recommends improvements in procedures, policies, standards, specifications, methods, processes, and equipment within their area of responsibility.
Develops and executes long range component maintenance strategies.
Analyzes and trends component performance data.
Recommends / initiates component performance improvements.
Develops and maintains Component Health Reports.
Contributes component expertise to; Troubleshooting, Planning, Root Cause Analysis, Apparent Cause Evaluation, Online and Outage Maintenance execution, and Modifications.
Recommends changes to PM Reptasks.
Recommends solutions for component obsolescence issues.
May be a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Education / Experience Requirements:

BS in Engineering with one year experience in Maintenance, Engineering or Plant Operations or, High School Diploma and minimum five years experience in related job responsibilities and 2 years experience in Maintenance, Engineering or Plant Operations.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills coupled with the ability to make and implement decisions.
Ability to read, write and analyze technical reports and written materials.
Previous work experience in a Maintenance role is preferred.
Technical Staff certification preferred.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be directly involved in the continued implementation and leadership of a progressive and integrated Reliability Centered Maintenance and Equipment Reliability Improvement process in a large multiple business units and multiple products processing facility. The candidate will lead in creating and managing change in an organization. The candidate will be a key leader in the maintenance management team and will be responsible for driving the improvement of plant reliability and championing the continued move from reactive to proactive maintenance. He or She will apply knowledge and experience to ensure continuous improvement to optimize the company’s physical assets and maintenance and reliability processes and strategies.

Principal Accountabilities:
• Is a member of the facility maintenance & reliability team and develops and implements strategies to identify, prioritize, and implement proactive maintenance and asset reliability improvement processes and projects.
• Heavily involved in development of the maintenance and reliability team.
• Is involved in the facility maintenance budget process and is responsible for using maintenance and reliability principles to improve the facility costs and productivity.
• Uses leadership and expertise in the principles of Root Cause Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement. Will be the Champion of the RCM and RCA process.
• Is responsible for working with site contractors to ensure a safe work environment with a basis in BBS (behavioral based safety) principles.

Required

• A minimum of 6 years experience in production operations, maintenance, engineering, or project management.

Job Description: Equipment Maintenance Technician (electro-mechanic) [EMT] for JDSU’s Santa Rosa operations.

The Equipment Maintenance Technician [EMT] is primarily responsible for safely improving manufacturing equipment performance. There are three primary types of work done by the EMT. 1) Respond and correct equipment failures 2) investigate, analyze and eliminate future equipment failures 3) perform PM tasks. These activities are aimed at assuring the continuous and proper operation of the plant equipment in support of both the Manufacturing function, the Research and Development function and in accordance with JDSU’s Safety Charter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Detail):
Equipment technical expert to the Manufacturing Management or other responsible manufacturing personnel.
Carry out tasks that improve the performance of the equipment. Based on expected or experienced failure modes of significant consequences the EMT is responsible for determining the fundamental failure modes and mitigates the consequences. The metrics for equipment performance are Availability and Reliability.
Carry out restoration and replacement tasks that safely, promptly and efficiently restore manufacturing equipment function in the event that function is lost and significant consequence to the enterprise is the result that loss.
Carry out all Proactive Maintenance (PM) tasks [not assigned to operators] such as predictive maintenance, preventative maintenance, failure finding maintenance and calibration maintenance in accordance with work instructions and assigned schedules.
Carry out tasks in accordance with the JDSU / Flex Products Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Charter.
Must be shift flexible. Could be assigned either a day or night shift. Could be working weekends, weekdays or a combination. The duration per day could be 12-hours, 10-hours or 8 hours. The days per week could be either a 3 / 4 day alternating workweek, a 4-day workweek or a 5-day workweek.
Track and report equipment performance including both equipment breakdowns and delays.
Assure that the proper type and amount of maintaining material is on hand and that all consumption is noted and the items low on stock are replenished.



EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must have significant formal technical training with verifiable certifications in one or more of the following skills or crafts. Electronics or Industrial Equipment Electrician. For safety reasons no amount of experience can be substituted for the Electronics/Electrical education/certification requirement.

EXPERIENCE:
For the Equipment Maintenance Technician III position at least five plus years of maintaining experience on any significant equipment. Knowledge of optical thin film high vacuum coaters is considered a plus.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Must be able to self learn and understand complex machinery and processes, to use computers and common software, and to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.

Must be able to physically perform the position (safely lift 50 lbs periodically pass respirator certification).

* Define, develop, administer, and refine the preventive/predictive maintenance program; coordinate with planners/schedulers to ensure that correct PM/PdM services and inspections are scheduled and performed.
* Perform administration, control and analysis of all data, records and equipment histories to continually review and refine PM/PdM frequencies.
* Conduct analyses of work order data, review developed PM/PDM procedures with operation management and staff.
* Establish training goals for eligible electricians and mechanics in predictive techniques: Vibration analysis,Thermography,Ultrasonic testing and other predictive techniques.
* Apply value analysis to make maintenance decisions, i.e., repair/replace and repair/redesign.

Requirements for the position include Facilities Project Management or Facilities Engineering experience with progressively responsible positions, strong technical competencies, advanced communication skills, and an ability to build strong relationships with all levels of the organization.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or related field. Masters degree in a related area is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates must have a minimum of five years experience in a related engineering area. Concentrations in thermal sciences, structures and vibration, or controls would be beneficial. Applicant must have the ability to apply mechanical principles to analyze system and components interactions. Candidates must also have interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
