Reliability Engineer - Freeport, TX

A job opening exists for a Reliability Engineer at the Texas Operations facility located in Freeport, TX for Dow.  This role will provide reliability engineering support for the Freeport site electrical power generation plants.  Texas Operations is located 50 miles South of Houston, Texas.


This role exists to improve the overall the reliability performance for the Freeport Energy Business assets, which is comprised of four power plants and large electrical and industrial gas distribution systems. The Reliability Engineer is expected to facilitate development of the business / facility / Equipment maintenance strategy(s), and solve reliability and availability losses through application of reliability technology and tools.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for implementing and sustaining all reliability activities
Resolve repetitive failures using current Reliability Engineering Tools (Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Weibull analysis, Risk Based Inspection, Titan, etc.) to help achieve the desired results.
Facilitate and lead RCI’s on failures meeting the criteria, and drive to the management system improvement.
Ensure that Long Term Cost of Ownership (LTCO) principles are utilized as appropriate for all decisions.
Identify and resolve Top 10 opportunities based on losses to downstream partners and annual maintenance cost.
Coordinate and provide technical assistance for the plant Preventive/Predictive Maintenance strategies.
Lead/Participate in maintenance/reliability reviews for capital and expense projects
Gather, interpret, and communicate global reliability measures.
Provides engineering technical guidance for operations and maintenance personnel.
Utilize six sigma tools and methodologies to improve reliability.


Qualifications
Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering field is required (preferably Mechanical Engineering)
A minimum of 2.7 (out of 4.0) GPA is required if you are a recent graduate (i.e. received the degree required for this position less than 2 years ago).
Strong interpersonal, technical, and leadership skills.
Assets

Experience in Power generation plants, preferably gas-fired co-generation.
Experience with advanced reliability tools such as (Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Weibull analysis, Risk Based Inspection, Titan, Crystal Ball, RCM Turbo, etc.).

Operations and Maintenance Leadperson - Twin Falls, Idaho

This position is responsible for completion of day-to-day tasks involving safe and efficient operation of Cargill Environmental Finance anaerobic digesters located in the Twin Falls, Idaho area.  Tasks will include performance and documentation of operational tasks, environmental, health and safety tasks/reporting, light maintenance tasks/maintenance management, contractor management, and mechanical as well as electrical troubleshooting and resolution.  Travel among Idaho sites is required.

Primary contact will be with the CEF operations and maintenance manager, location key service contractors and location dairy management staff.  Other contacts will include new project management personnel and routine correspondence with regulatory and/or power company personnel.  This position is expected to be an on-site manager with a keen interest to operate all sites in the most effective manner possible within all Cargill operations requirements.  The position will have exposure to pumps, blowers, separation technology, large spark-ignition generating sets and heating and cooling systems.  Expectations include accelerated development of maintenance and reliability processes to increase utilization efficiency, equipment evaluation, and documentation of all operating logs, maintenance history/activities and reporting requirements.

Principal Accountabilities:

1.  Daily logging and reporting of operational parameters and maintenance activities
2.  Performance of light maintenance activities
3.  Direct oversight of service contractors
4.  Timely reporting and projections to regulatory and power company agencies
5.  Continual operational and maintenance process improvements
6.  Successful mechanical and electrical trouble-shooting and problem resolution
7.  Ability to schedule manage schedule, prioritize activities among up to five different locations in the same geographic area.
8.  Ability to communicate with, and form an effective partnership with the service providers and dairy owner/operator personnel.

Required:
• At least five years experience of direct mechanical and/or electrical work.
• Knowledge of dairy operations.
• Certification from recognized electrical or maintenance organizations demonstrating proficiency.
• Must have basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Reliable, dependable, self-starter due to remote and multiple locations.
• Personal skills needed to effectively work with a diverse group of service providers and owner/operators.
• Have the ability to manage multiple sites and the ability to travel among those sites.
• Must be available 24/7.
• Good communications skills; clear written and oral correspondence.  Be able to communicate to all levels of stakeholders.
• High integrity and high ethical standards.
• Courage and behaviors necessary to represent CEF’s best interests with all stakeholders at all times.
• Passion for engines, mechanical/electrical components and maintenance work.
• Operational/mechanical insight to recognize O&M issues and the ownership to resolve issues.
• Strong team player – willing to set challenging standards for personal work .
• Must assume ownership of location O&M processes
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office as necessary for documentation and reporting requirements.

This posting will be used to fill a full-time position in Utility Operations in the Department of Public Works. This is specialized, detailed technical work planning, scheduling and monitoring preventive maintenance and repair work orders for water and wastewater utilities facilities including but not limited to raw water wells, water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, lift stations, wastewater infrastructure, and maintenance building facilities. The responsibilities of this position are performed in cooperation with Utility Maintenance and operations Team Managers.


Minimum Qualifications:  Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in business administration or related degree; and experience (one or more years) in the planning and scheduling of water and/or wastewater, industrial plant, and or utility construction and maintenance.

Reliability Engineer - Palmdale, CA
