Service Spare Parts and MRO Spare Parts Survey
Note: This survey is offered by our friends at ignite Service and is independent from Reliabilityweb.com
Thank you in advance for taking this survey about forecasting and planning for Service Spare Parts and MRO Spare Parts. The survey is intended for practitioners in both Field Service and Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) environments, so we have generically used the term “spare parts” to cover both service spare parts and MRO spare parts. Please answer the questions as best you can from your individual perspective.
Your input and opinions are vital, so we truly appreciate the time you take to answer these questions. It should take only about 10-12 minutes. As always, unless you give ignite Service your specific permission to share it, any contact information you provide will be KEPT STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL.
ignite Service will also provide you with a courtesy copy of the summary report of this survey.

Why Use Infrared Windows?
The first rule in any health and safety situation is the elimination of risk, Personal Protection equipment (PPE) should always be the last resort.
The use of Infrared inspection windows in any thermography program eliminates the risks associated with live inspections by ensuring that thermographers are not exposed to any energized components and as such can complete the infrared survey with minimum disruption to plant and services in standard workplace PPE.

How Does Maintenance Improvement Impact OEE?
A Blog by Keith Mobley
Even though I am older than dirt and have been at this for many, many years there are occasions when I need help. This is one of those times.
Everyone seems to agree that Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is an important Key Performance Indicator; but no one can tell me how improving maintenance is the key to improved OEE. Statistics indicate that maintenance is responsible for about 17% of reliability or availability problems and most other loss factors seem to be non-maintenance.
If this is true, maintenance can only improve availability by 17% of the difference of current state and 100%. I would like to hear your thoughts on maintenance and its OEE role.

Why Remediation of CMMS Data is Essential to Reliability-Centered Maintenance
by Scott Weston, CMRP, Reliability Engineer, Global Knowledge Management, Inc.
In my experience, companies tend to install and commission operating equipment quickly so that it may contribute to the bottom line as soon as possible. Some do a better job than others of analyzing the equipment and determining the preventive and predictive maintenance activities necessary to get the most out of the equipment. Once these activities are determined, they tend to continue on in perpetuity. Equipment/instrument and spare parts data are loaded as well, and are rarely updated. As the equipment ages and changes are made, change management systems may or may not capture updated data. This causes more work for the crafts persons, less efficiency in maintenance activities, and decision making with outdated or incorrect data. More…
