How do you start your day at the plant?
Do you have a routine/activity to start the working day?
* formal daily operations meeting?
* informal chat with crew/operators with a cup of coffee?
* walkthrough/inspect areas?
* checking e-mails, yesterday’s completed orders?
* answer the phone that is ringing even before you arrive to the desk?

Ultrasound With Slow Speed Bearings
I was curious to know if anyone else is using ultrasound with slow speed bearings and their techniques.
I have one turning 42 RPM that vibration just didn’t show much activity. Of course when you start collecting data that resides in the lower domain, it takes a lot longer to collect. The trend data didn’t show much change but it still looked like something was going on. The temperature of the bearing was up and it was reported to be noisy during the midnight shift.
Grease was pumped in and the noise went away. Using ultrasound I went back and recorded this bearing and another exact same bearing doing the same job. I found at 20K, I could hear this the best. (I normally listen between 32K to 40K for bearing issues)
Question01: What frequency do you find to be the best for this slow of speed?
Question02: Is anyone else using some type of program to look at recorded data and what do you find to work the best.
Attached in this post is what I have been using and the recorded data from the good bearing and bad bearing.
Post your reply here

RELIABILITY Magazine’s “Keeping Up with the Jones’” survey
How is your facility doing when it comes to getting resources for maintenance and reliability?
What maintenance and reliability strategies and tactics are being utilized at your manufacturing facility as compared to other facilities in your industry or compared to industry as a whole?
By participating in RELIABILITY®Magazine’s “Keeping Up with the Jones’” survey, you’ll find out the answers to these questions, and a few more, that are vital to knowing how you stand among facilities and manufacturing plants worldwide.
There are only 15 questions to complete and we estimate you can complete the survey in less than 10 minutes.
The survey does not require any proprietary information and no attempts are made to specifically identify your facility.

Time Management For Maintenance Professionals by Joel Levitt
Time Management For Maintenance Professionals by Joel Levitt
Audio CD and e-Book
Maintenance can be a pressure cooker. Emergencies, short staffing, vendor problems, high customer expectations all contribute to be stressors on the job. While removing the stressors is impossible, changing your attitude might be possible.
A person who feels mastery over his/her environment transforms the `bad’ stress into good excitement. Workings on time management as a skill helps people feel mastery. The goal is not to feel in control because that is an illusion. The goal of time management is feeling that you can master anything that comes at you.
