Marathon Pipe Line selects Blue Dot’s mNOW! Mobile Framework

Marathon Pipe Line, a subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Company, has selected Blue Dot’s mNOW!® Mobile Framework for their Field Data Management Framework Project.  Marathon Pipe Line operates 54 pipelines in 13 states, and has more than 300 field technicians spending the majority of their time working along pipelines, or at pipeline stations in remote areas throughout the country.

mNOW! will be used to design a sophisticated field force work management system for all Marathon Pipe Line field technicians to improve efficiencies in day to day operations.  Specifically, Blue Dot will assist Marathon Pipe Line in migrating from paper based work processes to the automation of synchronizing work orders, retrieving documents and files, work order/task completion, and multiple backend database integration.  The field force work management mobile solution will integrate to Datastream 7i (now Infor) and the IRTH One Call Ticket Management System using laptop pc’s.  Eventually, the mobile solution will incorporate GPS technology for the expansion of geographic and mapping data to all field technicians. 

Marathon Pipe Line plans to use the mNOW! Mobile Framework as an enterprise wide solution.  Over time, all activities in the field requiring general data collection will be converted to use this common interface.  The Field Data Management Framework Project provides a foundation for the enterprise solution, focusing on the pipeline one call ticket and work order systems.
