The DuPont Engineering Technology organization (DuET) has a need for a ROTATING MACHINERY CONSULTANT-COMPRESSORS & VACUUMS in Wilmington, Delaware.
The DuET organization translates R&D and Business needs into competitive processes, products and equipment. We provide a competitive advantage and solutions to DuPont Businesses by leveraging solutions across the corporation. The Rotating Machinery group is part of the corporate engineering function that supports DuPont operating plants with technical issues and capital projects. Key responsibilities could include: Specify and apply the proper compression and vacuum equipment and systems (including positive displacement compressors) across a wide variety of chemical, polymer, and biological processes and conditions; Identify and promote good practices (including national and international standards) for selecting, applying, operating, and maintaining compressors and vacuum pumps and the associated process systems; Occasionally assess equipment supplier’s engineering and manufacturing capability; Analyze problems, recommend and help implement solutions on compression and vacuum equipment and systems used in DuPont.; Work with other consultants, plant and business personnel, suppliers and contractors; Lead and coordinate corporate-wide teams and projects; Represent client interests and monitor progress in Original Equipment Manufacturer’s or 3rd party repair shops; Support site maintenance personnel during equipment overhauls and unscheduled outages- i.e., emergency repair; Support development and updating of DuPont Corporate Engineering Standards. There will be travel (25-50%) associated with supporting operating plants nationally and could include international travel. Education & Skills: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering; Ten years experience primarily in engineering, application, plant technical or maintenance involving rotating machinery and chemical process equipment and systems; Knowledge of thermodynamics related to compression systems; Knowledge of vacuum technology and systems; Knowledge of machine dynamics, vibration and failure analysis; Experience with design and testing, or operation, maintenance and overhaul of variety of compressors, fans, vacuum pumps, auxiliaries and associated equipment; Ability to apply theory and experience to the application, inspection, start-up, troubleshooting and operation of various compressor types and vacuum pumps; Familiarity with API Standards and turbomachinery repair methods and techniques; General knowledge of process machinery typically used in chemical, polymer, food and biological processes; Ability to manage a substantial work load; Interpersonal skills for developing a client base and working in a multi-function team environment; Networking capability to effectively leverage other corporate and external resources to provide timely, cost effective solutions; Computer and PC literate – Working knowledge of using E-mail, the Internet, and Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
