EMERSON EXTENDS VIBRATION MONITORING TO HAZARDOUS WORK AREAS

Customers can now obtain advanced analysis of the condition of rotating equipment in all areas of their plants using the safety-rated CSI 2130 Machinery Health™ Analyzer.

KNOXVILLE, TENN – Emerson Process Management now makes vibration monitoring of rotating equipment possible in hazardous areas of chemical and petrochemical process plants and refineries. Two new safety-rated versions of the CSI 2130 Machinery Health Analyzer are available for evaluating the condition of a broad range of equipment types in hazardous work areas.  Both versions comply with the rigorous international safety standards established by Factory Mutual (FM), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and the European (ATEX) standard, extending the use of industry’s best tool for fast, accurate assessment of the condition of rotating machinery to the most sensitive plant environments.

The safety-certified versions of the CSI 2130 retain all functions of the machinery health analyzers commonly operating in other areas.  They are capable of gathering large amounts of data and reducing it into accurate diagnostics and actionable information. The collected data are uploaded for analysis and trending to the AMS™ Suite: Machinery Health™ Manager software, a component of Emerson’s PlantWeb® digital plant architecture. The health of critically important rotating equipment in hazardous areas can now be addressed through:

• Vibration data collection (single- or dual-channel) • Vibration analysis (single- and dual-channel) • Advanced cross channel vibration analysis • Cascade analysis for machine start-up or coast-down (single- or dual-channel) • Advanced transient analysis (single- or dual-channel)

Dynamic balancing and laser shaft alignment, which can also be done in hazardous areas using the new versions of the CSI 2130, typically require hot-work permits for hazardous environments.

Originally released as a high-function, dual-channel data collector and analyzer, the CSI 2130 is now available as a lower-cost single-channel data collector and as a single- or dual-channel standalone vibration analyzer.  Both meet the rigorous safety standards described above.
