Condition Monitoring International Announces Prescient – Intelligent Oil Analysis System

Condition Monitoring International, LLC (CMI), based in Roswell, GA, has announced the release of its web-based Intelligent Agent, Prescient, for Oil Analysis data evaluation.

“This product was designed to fill a gap in the quality of report commentary. It is based on sophisticated algorithms to assess data levels, movement and combinations”, says Jack Poley, Managing Partner and Prescient designer.

Oil Analysis laboratories emphasize response time, instrumentation and software for distributing reports and managing data, but there is less emphasis on quality and specificity of the commentary (if any) on the report.

Missing in this evolving process is continuous improvement in the Evaluation of the test data toward appropriate maintenance management action, yet that is the Goal of Oil Analysis!

Prescient is an Intelligent Agent designed specifically for oil analysis data rating and evaluation, blending three distinct processes:

1. Statistical data analysis creates Boundary Tables for assessing severity of test results, based on logical, hierarchical component categorization.
2. Expert domain knowledge is applied to combinations of severity ratings in given configurations and applications.
3. Nuanced pattern recognition applies tailored comments, combining data rating with expert domain knowledge - the knowledge is continuously modified via ongoing statistical processing.

Poley adds: “In recent years a lot of emphasis has been placed on streamlining testing and using software to deliver reports via the Internet, but little has been done to actually improve the quality, depth and clarity of comments and recommendations received by maintenance personnel which, in fact, is what those folks really want and need; it is why they have an Oil Analysis program. Prescient can take test data from any laboratory and turn it into a cogent, organized report, enabling end users to direct their maintenance actions for best effect,”
