Bruce Power Selects Meridium for Asset Performance Management Solution
Roanoke, Virginia, USA - November 6, 2007 - Meridium Inc., the leader in asset performance management (APM) software and consulting solutions, today announced an agreement with Bruce Power, the first private nuclear generator in Canada and one of Ontario’s largest independent power generators. Bruce Power employs more than 3,600 highly skilled professionals and produces approximately 40% of the world’s cobalt-60 and generates 20% of Ontario’s electricity.
Emphasizing “Safety First” as their number one value, “Bruce Power has worked to implement an evergreen, integrated equipment reliability program and process to analyze equipment maintenance and operations,” according to Mel Poy, Project Director at Bruce Power. “To ensure the reliability process can be managed and the required data is available for analysis, it will be extremely valuable to incorporate all our equipment reliability data and activities into Meridium, which will be fully integrated with our other systems, to support all our processes and reporting needs.”
Bruce Power will implement an array of Meridium’s APM software and services including:
* APM Framework for querying, reporting, graphing and notifications.
* Metrics & Scorecards for defining and implementing a measurement system to document actual progress against strategic goals.
* Reliability Analytics for understanding poorly performing assets and system designs and where opportunities for improvements exist.
* Strategy Management for standardizing and implementing equipment best practices to automate decision making about maintenance and reliability activities.
* Reliability Centered Maintenance/Failure Modes Effects and Analysis for managing the RCM process, data, analyses and recommendations.
* Inspection Management for assessing the condition of assets in order to avoid equipment failures and comply with regulatory agencies.
* Thickness Monitoring for understanding the current condition of equipment that contains or manages process medium in order to minimize safety and environmental risk
as well as unplanned failures.
* Calibration Management for ensuring the management and reliability of instrumentation and control mechanisms, which play a crucial role in the safety and shutdown
systems of a plant.
* Operator Rounds for extending the analytical power of Meridium onto a hand held device, allowing operations and inspection data to be captured in the field. Through
automated alerting, operators and inspectors can be given real time instructions for what to do and how to react.
* Generation Management for the integration of maintenance, operational, planning and financial data to support reliability analysis and to drive continuous improvement
strategies. This functionality enables forward-looking financial analysis as well as actual performance benchmarking.
* Root Cause Analysis (PROACT. for Meridium) for helping management better understand the underlying root causes of failures to prevent future occurrences.
* Implementation services and training
“Meridium is pleased to have this opportunity to bring our expertise in reliability and asset performance management into the nuclear industry with a partner such as Bruce Power, which recognizes the critical importance of equipment reliability and failure elimination in their commitment to safety and to fostering a strong safety culture,” according to Bonz Hart, President/CEO, Meridium.
