SUCCESS by DESIGN Electrical Motor Diagnostics Courses

SUCCESS by DESIGN introduces a series of Electrical Motor Diagnostics classes that are neutral to any one manufacturer’s technology. Whether the attendee is using basic technologies, surge testing, MCA, MCSA, ESA or torsional analysis, all will come away with a deeper understanding of the application and the interpretation of these technologies. At this point, there are three EMD-1 classes scheduled, EMD-2 and EMD-3 classes will be scheduled later in 2007 and will be announced. Additional EMD-1 classes will be scheduled based upon demand.
EMD-1: Starting with the basic principles of electricity and electro-magnetism, the student will experience a series of hands-on demonstration and labs, including building a small electric motor. A review of technologies, and their capabilities, will be covered and how they are applied for commissioning, condition-based testing, trending and troubleshooting. One day is dedicated to MCA and de-energized testing of AC induction machines and a day and a half is dedicated to ESA/MCSA testing of AC induction motors. EMD-1 is designed for any level of experience and the attendee will come away with an understanding of the impact of motor diagnostics in their industry and the capabilities of the various technologies.
EMD-2: This 3.5 day course covers online and offline testing and analysis of transformers, synchronous machines and DC machines. Our instructors will cover some of the tips and techniques not covered by most instrument vendors. Time To Failure Estimation™ techniques and the development of actionable reports will be covered.
EMD-3: This 3.5 day course covers online and offline testing and analysis of machine tools, generators and specialized machines. Additional specialized techniques for evaluating and troubleshooting machines and systems will be covered.
Our trainers include contracted field and factory experienced professionals who continue to apply these technologies in their environments. Training classes supported by Dr. Penrose will ONLY be provided though SUCCESS by DESIGN or authorized licensee’s, which will carry the SBD logo.
