Impact of EMD Workforce Part 6

So, how does the 21st Century workforce affect the Electrical Motor Diagnostics (EMD) industry?

President, SUCCESS by DESIGN

We are already seeing the effects, and have for the past decade.  The primary people who can provide in-depth answers as to what is going on inside the motors have by and large retired from industry.  Very few universities, technology centers or other training organizations provide effective electric motor theory training leaving new technologists and analysts to have to find ways to learn.  The result is a gap of up to five years of self training, substandard classes, direct vendor support and mistakes.

The rotating machinery industry is a significant opportunity for new engineers and technologists to enter.  The best part is that the new testing and condition analysis tools, motor controls and applications are exciting and high tech.  New software, diagnostics tools, renewing knowledge, advanced controls and high tech applications will provide job security and challenges to our younger generations.
