Miami-Dade Garbage Fleet Goes Three Years Without an Oil Change
3-year average savings of $732 per truck achieved using the puraDYN® bypass filtration system.
puraDYN Filter Technologies Incorporated (OTCBB: PFTI) announced today that approximately 200 garbage trucks in the County fleet for Miami-Dade General Services Administration (Miami GSA) have gone over three years without an oil change using the puraDYN® bypass oil filtration system.
Ronald Kleintop, fleet service manager, stated that Miami-Dade GSA, whose heavy-duty vehicle life expectancy is approximately seven years, has been using the bypass oil filtration system on everything from landfill compactors to garbage trucks.
According to Kleintop, “out of approximately 700 trucks we service, all of which are equipped with the puraDYN system, 200 of these are garbage trucks. Using these 200 trucks as an example, before using the puraDYN system, annual costs associated with oil maintenance and purchase were approximately $54,200, or $162,600 over the past three years. With the puraDYN installed, we’re now averaging an annual cost of $5,400 per year for all 200 trucks, mostly in handling the filter changes, taking oil samples for analysis and make-up oil, or $16,200 over the past three years. Total savings over the three-year period amounts to $146,400.”
Kleintop continued, “By using the puraDYN bypass system on these trucks, not only have we reduced oil costs by 90%, but oil and related maintenance costs will continue to decrease every year we add more vehicles equipped with the puraDYN system to the fleet.”
Kleintop concluded, “when we began installing the puraDYN system, we stopped changing oil and still have not changed the oil in over three years. We track the condition of the oil at scheduled intervals through oil analysis and in every instance where the bypass system is installed, the oil is still good for continued use with the engine running clean and at optimum performance. The minimal amount of time it takes to sample oil and replace a filter keeps the
vehicle on route and our resources focused on other crucial tasks.”
Richard C. Ford, CEO, stated, “Miami-Dade GSA has been enthusiastic about the benefits provided by the puraDYN system from the beginning. As a government agency, they are always on the lookout for a positive impact on the bottom line and overall efficiency and we look forward to continuing to work with them over many years.”
