Addressing fluid power leaks - both types
In a previous ‘Inside Hydraulics’ article I discussed the true cost of hydraulic oil leaks. In the case of oil leaks, the cost areas that need to be considered include:
• Make-up fluid;
• Clean-up;
• Disposal;
• Contaminant ingress; and
• Safety.
But what about hydraulics’ fluid power cousin - pneumatics?

Diesel Fuel Contamination, Filter Plugging & On-Site Fuel Testing
By BRETT WINBERG www.lubetrak.com
Fuel contamination is a fact of life. Preventing problems and equipment damage associated with contaminated fuel is primarily the responsibility of the end user. These responsibilities include the proper and timely replacement and servicing of the filters; selection of the fuel source, grade, and blend; and use of heaters, separators, and additives as required.

The true cost of hydraulic oil leaks
Hydraulic systems are often considered perennial consumers of oil and in turn, make-up fluid an inherent cost of operating hydraulic equipment. But what is the real cost of one or more “minor leaks” on your hydraulic equipment? To answer this question, the costs associated with all of the following factors need to be considered:
* Make-up fluid.
* Clean-up.
* Disposal.
* Contaminant ingress.
* Safety.
