August 25, 2006   Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) For Everyone

by Neil B. Bloom, Author of Reliability Centered Maintenance - Implementation Made Simple

RCM should be for everyone, not just for the corporate titans with megabucks to spend and an abundance of personnel available to them…but also for the “every man” who is in charge of preventive maintenance and reliability at a small or mid-sized facility. Whether you work at a large plant for a large corporation, or a mid-size plant or a small plant, RCM is a universally accepted methodology for everyone who wants to establish a premier preventive maintenance program.

In this 1 hour training course on CD, you will be introduced to the world of RCM, its origin, its present day applicability, and its importance in the future of global corporate competition.

• You will learn how and why RCM was developed for the commercial aviation industry.

• You will learn what the 3 phases of an RCM are.

• You will learn the seven SAE questions of RCM and why they were established.

This course includes a narrated lecture with slides (in Flash and Windows Media Player format), an e-Book, a quiz with scoring, practical exercises and the ability to communicate and interact directly with the instructor and other course participants.

August 25, 2006   Would like to become very proficient in analyzing oil analysis reports?

The Oil Analysis Game at the LubricationWorld
September 15
Chattanooga TN

Everyone wants to become more predictive and proactive when it comes to their equipment reliability and more proactive with lubricants to prevent equipment damage.

Oil analysis allows you to become more predictive and proactive but you need the knowledge to carefully analyze an oil analysis report to make the correct decisions to extend equipment life.

The Oil Analysis Game Workshop at the LubricationWorld Conference will provide you with the techniques and tricks of the trade to analyze oil analysis data for your particular equipment. You understand your equipment better than an oil analysis lab so let us help teach the techniques to analyze your own data in conjunction with the recommendations made by the oil analysis laboratory to avoid an future surprises and allow you to make the right recommendations.

This hard hitting full day workshop involves hands on training by two industry experts.

The first half will involve reviewing the tests needed by equipment type. Next you will be taught how to analyze an oil analysis report to find hidden clues on the condition of the equipment and the condition of the oil. Actual oil analysis reports on major equipment types will be analyzed to determine the correct recommendations to make.

The second half of the workshop will be the actual solution of five case studies by groups. All groups will have a budget for each case study and they will have to select the tests to have performed. As the tests are selected data will be revealed. The group that solves the case at the lowest cost will be given a prize. Five case histories on different equipment such as turbines, gear boxes, and compressors will be analyzed.

We also recommend Ray Thibault’s Lubrication Fundamentals Workshop at LubricationWorld on September 12.

Space is limited and filling up fast so please call toll free (888) 575 1245 or…

August 25, 2006   “Arc-Resistant” Infrared (IR) Sightglasses keep professional engineers & thermographers safe

The latest generation of IR Sightglasses from Hawk IR International have been designed and tested to withstand the massive forces associated with an electric arc-flash. The coated, broadband optic is guaranteed never to degrade with moisture and will operate with any IR camera with a standard lens.

Designed around NFPA70E requirements and exposed to extensive arc-fault testing to both ANSI and IEEE Standards the UL Recognized, Hawk IR Sightglass C-Range, not only helps prevent arc-fault triggers from occurring but can also protect your personnel from arc-blast injury should it occur. Utilizing a toughened crystal optic known as CLIRVU, Hawk IR Sightglass “C-Range” can withstand arc-fault events in excess of 38kA (38,000A) without failure, maximizing worker safety.

The CLIVU coated optic holds a lifetime warranty against moisture degradation and is totally flexible, operating with all IR cameras on the market today. Importantly the C-Range IR Sightglass allows full use of both INFRARED and VISUAL capabilities built into many infrared cameras.

For systems with low incident energy levels, Hawk IR International also provide a UL Recognized IR Port design. Allowing operation with any IR camera, the IR port makes use of a series of small - >1/4” (fingerproof) - holes which allow infrared to pass to the camera. The IR Ports offer significantly less protection than IR Sightglasses but can provide a cost effective means of infrared scanning where the flash hazard risk is low.

Prices start at just $65.
