February 24, 2006   The Newest, Most Complete Approach To Inventory Reduction

• Are you under pressure to reduce your inventory?

• Have past attempts produced short-term results?

• Do you just know that there is more to be gained if only you had the right approach?

Most companies managing engineering and MRO inventory have these issues. However, what most people don’t realize is that typical inventory optimization uses only one method for inventory reduction – when in fact there are seven ways that you can safely, and without risk, reduce your inventory.

Only ICR06 – The Inventory Cash Release System uses all seven ways to reduce your inventory.

ICR06 – The Inventory Cash Release System was developed by working with clients and has helped those clients reduce their inventory by tens of millions of dollars. In one case this approach reduced MRO inventory by a massive 42%!

The system works for two simple reasons:

1. It utilizes all seven of the possible ways of reducing inventory (optimization programs utilize only one)

2. It is implementation focused - it becomes part of the way the way that you do business. This means that your inventory stays low!

By using this system your outcome can be achieved with zero risk to your company. Importantly, ICR06 is not a software program, it is a process that your people implement and apply year after year.

This is the newest and most complete approach to inventory reduction yet!

February 24, 2006   UL-approved Viewport blows away IR windows on cost and performance

Mikron Infrared’s patented Viewport is the first UL-approved device to allow closed-door infrared inspections of electrical panels. Matched with a SpyGlass™ lens, it allows an entire panel to be scanned through a single port’s 0.50” opening. At a cost of just $50, the Viewport “busts” IR windows, which cost $300+ each and easily break or scratch.

Designed to make inspections fast and convenient, the Viewport enables a thermographer to work without “NASA suit” personal protective equipment. The Viewport is also perfect for use with ultrasound detection equipment.

Thermal scans through the Viewport are highly accurate, because the open design uses no IR-transparent window, which can skew readings. IR windows used on electrical cabinets transmit only in the wavelength of 0.13 to 10 microns. If the window cuts off at 10.0 microns, then the camera misses more than 70% of the energy emitted by the target. This reduction of energy on the detector results in lower image quality and compromises temperature readings.

The Viewport is UL-approved for installation on NEMA type 1, 2, 3, 3R, 4, 5, 12,12K and 13 enclosures. Installation takes just minutes.

The SpyGlass lens provides a temperature accuracy of ±3 degrees C. With a focus range of 3” (10 cm) to infinity and a large depth of field, it’s perfect for cramped or shallow cabinets.

February 24, 2006   Ultrasonic Detector Features Internal Data Collector

Ultrasonic Inspection is the hottest trend for Predictive Maintenance Managers looking to increase the frequency of surveillance on rotating machines. As a companion to vibration analysis or as a stand alone system, ultrasound increases uptime through early detection of bearing failures and effective scheduling of re-lubrication cycles in electric motors. Use Ultrasound to find leaks in compressed air lines, faulty steam traps, potential electrical malfunctions, and hydraulic failures.

The SDT 170 MD Ultrasonic Detector simplifies complex data collection by allowing users to configure unlimited routes with onboard asset identification. Monitoring the condition of bearings with digital ultrasonic detectors is becoming mainstream practice for predictive maintenance technicians. It’s a reliable method on its own, or as an enhancement to existing vibration analysis programs. Now, technicians can diagnose and store ultrasonic bearing data directly without having to lug around an external data collector. The SDT 170 directly downloads to PC software that can then share the data with other CMMS programs such as DMSI’s Maintelligence Monitor.

The SDT 170MD is a true all-in-one predictive maintenance system with versatility for today and expansion possibilities for tomorrow. Ultrasound Inspection is Predictive Maintenance for the Masses.
