MRO Software’s Maximo Transportation Industry Solution
By Houghton Leroy, ARC Advisory Group
MRO Software is the leading supplier of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions worldwide, according to the latest market research report from ARC Advisory Group, and they recently briefed ARC on their Maximo Transportation Industry Solution.
According to the briefing, Maximo Enterprise Suite (MXES), MRO Software’s best of breed EAM solution, spans most asset classes for many industries, includes a unique approach to service management, and supports risk and compliance requirements. MRO offers targeted industry solutions for Transportation, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Transmission & Distribution, and Pharmaceuticals with deep functionality. Industry focused extensions, solution roadmaps, joint advisory councils, and a knowledgeable partner network give added value to customers and demonstrate MRO’s commitment to their verticals.
Maximo Transportation is now available on the MXES platform and offers rational consolidation of asset management functions for fleet, rail, aviation and other moving assets. The solution consists of general Maximo Enterprise Suite modules for managing asset information, work orders, service, inventory, procurement, contracts, reporting and analysis. It includes unique logs, measures and reports, and special transportation modules for managing important transportation requirements, such as industry codes, motor pool, meters, campaigns, fuel interface, depreciation, vehicle specifications as well as integration to Automatic Vehicle Location and Monitoring.
There currently are 78 customers with over 27,000 users taking advantage of the Maximo Transportation Industry Solution, including many major accounts such as Amtrak, US Air Force, US Department of Interior, State of Georgia, Albertsons, JB Hunt, Long Island Rail Road, RENFE, and Yarra Trams. Reported benefits include faster access to the important information needed to better manage maintenance, labor, inventory, warranties, configurations and other challenging transportation asset management issues.
MRO Software’s active Transportation User Group helps to identify improvements and define new functionality for the Maximo Transportation solution. Future phases will include improvements for data structure and information management, such as new templates, PM and job plan hierarchies, and equipment alias. There will also be many new specialized transportation modules for planning, leasing, billing, monitoring, tracking, reporting and managing transportation requirements all targeted for new releases over the next few years.
MRO Software is currently the leading supplier of EAM/CMMS solutions for the Transportation Industry with strong financials, but they could still be an acquisition target as competition in the mature enterprise application markets continues to escalate. Many recent mergers and acquisitions have eliminated smaller competitors, increasing the strength of leading ERP suppliers with broader application suites that include EAM solutions for many industries. Of course, it is also possible that MRO Software could continue to dominate the worldwide market as the leading best of breed EAM Solution supplier. In either case, Maximo Enterprise Suite is still an established and proven EAM solution with strong credentials that offers a good value proposition for the transportation industry.
