Mincom expects 10% growth in LatAm - Regional
Australian software company Mincom expects sales in Latin America to grow 10% this year after increasing almost 5% in 2005 compared to 2004, the company’s marketing and sales support director for Latin America, Carlos Medina told BNamericas.
“On average we should grow 10% primarily because of sales to the mining sector. Basically, we have a mining supply chain management solution and an enterprise asset management template solution, this last one offering support to mining companies in project development, and our solution allows them to improve their internal processes,” Medina said.
Brazil, Chile and Peru are the countries where Mincom expects most sales in the region given their strong mining industries. Latin America represents 10-12% of the company’s global revenues.
“There are also big opportunities in Venezuela, where we have three important clients and where we are searching for a strategic alliance with the aim of delivering a better service and increasing our presence,” Medina added.
In addition to establishing an alliance in Venezuela, the company has plans to increase its presence in Brazil. “We already have presence in Brazil which has fortified our support and development areas and according to our projects. We plan to open a new office and competencies centers closer to our current clients, some of them the largest mining companies in Brazil,” the executive said.
Even though Medina was not able to provide hard figures, he said 70% of total revenues in the region come from the mining industry.
“We do expect strong growth from the defense sector because there is a global strategy [to expand in this segment]. We have a project in Australia related to logistics systems, which offers us the possibility to provide similar solutions in Latin America,” Medina said.
Mincom also provides solutions for transport companies and energy and other utilities.
“Mincom is also in the business of developing complementary solutions for other applications in the market, particularly analytic solutions that increase productivity and which can be implemented over other non-Mincom solutions,” he said.
Medina also said the company is continuing to focus on its current client base by providing improved post-sales service.
