MicroMain Celebrates 15 Years of Steady Growth
MicroMain Corporation, a leading provider of asset and facility management software and services, today commemorates 15 years of service in the maintenance and facility management industry.
“We are proud to hit this 15-year milestone,” said Pat Conroy, Founder and President of MicroMain. “We’ve seen many companies fail over the years, and many have been acquired or have changed their product lines so that they no longer focus on facility and plant asset management. MicroMain has grown significantly and steadily, dedicated solely to providing organizations everything they need to manage their facilities—simply.
“We have stayed true to our original mission to develop high-quality, easy-to-use software, to be responsive in meeting our customers’ needs, and to provide the services that help users get the most out of their software,” he added. “We consider ourselves ‘right-sized.’ Because we run a lean operation, we can offer competitive pricing and the extra service we feel our customers deserve.”
The product that launched the company in 1991 was computerized maintenance management software (CMMS). Today, the MicroMain XM™ CMMS includes work order and inspection workflow management, labor scheduling, asset tracking, inventory control, fleet management, and cost analyses. Over 700 standard reports are provided in the MicroMain XM suite.
One of the first customers to take advantage of MicroMain’s CMMS was Carroll Lutheran Village, a 90-acre accredited continuing care retirement community in Westminster, Maryland. The retirement community began using the software in 1992, and has since grown to 300 apartments, 100 homes, a 103-bed health care center, 50-unit assisted living center, administrative center, three-bay garage, hospitality center, wellness center with indoor pool, retreat house, chapel, and many other facilities.
“Before MicroMain, maintenance requests were logged in the notebooks and a paper clip was attached if the work was not completed,” said Donna Stephan, Administrative Assistant at Carroll Lutheran Village. “It was difficult to research work done on particular units, leafing page by page through piles of notebooks. When we started with MicroMain, we could track the work, capture time, list categories, and get reports at a click of a button. This made such a difference in our productivity!”
Carroll Lutheran Village is projected to grow from its current 650 residents to 900. The retirement community also anticipates increasing the facilities and grounds to cover nearly twice the square footage used today.
“Based on our success with MicroMain over the past 14 years, I have no doubt the software will keep pace with our needs as we virtually double our size,” said Roy Chiavacci, Executive Vice President at Carroll Lutheran Village.
Since 1991, MicroMain has added software to the MicroMain XM suite, currently offering tools for web- or network-based work requests, Pocket PC-based work orders and inspections, bar code-enabled asset scanning, key control, tool tracking, executive data for multi-site or multi-operation enterprises, and detailed labor time entry management.
Last year, the company introduced the industry-specific MicroMain XM for Healthcare. This version of MicroMain XM provides risk assessment and other needed functionality for biomed/clinical engineering, as well as comprehensive facility management.
MicroMain also provides a computer-aided facility management (CAFM) system. MicroMain FM™ allows users to visualize facilities and manage more efficiently using data-enabled facility drawings.
“This year we will be launching new capital planning software, making us the first major CMMS vendor to develop and provide a maintenance, facility, and capital planning management suite,” said Conroy. “From 1991 to 2006, we’ve listened to our customers and developed our products to meet their needs. We’ll continue to listen carefully as we move ahead with new offerings and growing numbers of customers in the years to come.”
