Invensys to Present Enterprise Asset Optimization Strategies at IMC-2006
Invensys’ Avantis (http://www.avantis.net) has announced that Dr. Peter Martin, vice president of performance management, will be a featured presenter at the 2006 International Maintenance Conference on December 7th at 1pm. Supporting the conference theme, “Manufacturing & Process Reliability”, Dr. Martin will describe how the concept of asset performance management can and should be applied to improving asset utilization, beyond the traditional focus of ensuring asset availability only.
Entitled “Path to Asset Performance and Reliability,” Dr. Martin’s presentation will explain the process by which high level strategic business drivers are identified and translated into a hierarchy of performance metrics. These measurements are then utilized as real-time feedback to executives, managers, and operators, allowing them to see strategic impact of their actions in real time to be able to make immediate correction. Dr. Martin will illustrate how these metrics will enable a business to balance the availability and utilization of their assets in real time, enabling performance optimization of plant assets.
The presentation will also discuss the three levels of plant asset management that are necessary to bridge the gap between traditional and performance-based asset management, namely base asset management, asset set optimization, and asset performance management.
Dr. Martin brings much experience in the development and implementation of real-time asset performance management in the process industry. He is the author of multiple books on automation, including Bottom Line Automation (ISA Press, 2nd Edition), and Dynamic Performance Management: The Pathway to World Class Manufacturing (Van Nostrand Rheinhold Press), and was named a “Hero of US Manufacturing” by Fortune Magazine. Dr. Martin holds multiple patents relative to performance measurement and economic optimization, and most recently, his extensive research contributed to Invensys’ latest release, the InFusion enterprise control system.
Dr. Martin’s presentation is part of the 21st Annual International Maintenance Conference (IMC), being held December 5-8 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
