IBS Commissions Maintenance Management System for OOO Tyumentransgaz
MOSCOW (RNWire) - IBS, the leader in the Russian IT and consulting market has announced the completion of a project to develop and commission a Plant Maintenance Management System (PMMS) at OOO Tyumentransgaz, the world’s largest gas transportation enterprise. Plant support and maintenance procedures are key business practices for OOO Tyumentransgaz, ensuring working capacity of basic production assets, including: gas-main pipelines; gas compressor stations; electrochemical protection facilities; teleautomatic devices, and electrical machinery.
As of 2004, plant support and maintenance procedures in OOO Tyumentransgaz were carried out without application of information management systems for plant-floor operations. Service calls from the production branches of the Company were collected and processed by hand, there were neither unified rates of work cost estimating, nor effective control mechanism of plans realization.
Therefore, the highest-priority task, for OOO Tyumentransgaz, was control augmentation of repair activities due to more accurate and reasonable planning, and on-line objective information on actual plan implementation and technical status of equipment.
Taking into account geographically distributed branches of OOO Tyumentransgaz, wide range of various equipment kinds, and complexity of managerial structure, the solution of this task is unfeasible without resorting to modern information technologies.
PMMS automation in OOO Tyumentransgaz was carried out basing on mySAP Business Suite’s PLM module, which is successfully used in the company for solving other managerial tasks. IBS, strategic partner of OOO Tyumentransgaz in consulting and automated management systems, became the project contractor on system development.
The project started in 2nd quarter of 2004, and early in 2005, PMMS was commissioned for gas-main pipelines in all Company’s branches. By 2006, its rollout to other key production lines was entirely completed. More than 300 people became the system users.
The following functions have been automated in the project framework:
keeping equipment records in a unified database;
repair planning (on a short-term and yearly basis);
work control on terms and volumes;
control of actual expenses;
generation of PMMS reports (technical reports and reports on PMMS expenses: comparison and analysis of planned and actual budget parameters).
In addition, within the project framework, PMMS was integrated with the enterprise information management system to be able to collect data on availability, specifications, and actual status of processing equipment.
The PMMS implementation in the administrative machinery and production branches of OOO Tyumentransgaz gave rise to the following: automation of planning and cost accounting per repair entity basis; compilation of a structured reference book of facility items; and development of regulations on plans preparation and accounting of actual costs of repair. By using system-unified reference books of actual market prices for materials and spare parts, the ordering campaign, within repair planning framework, becomes easier to yield better substantiated PMMS budget. On the whole, detailed accounting and PMMS coat planning form a part of service self-cost management system, which makes it possible to obtain fair value of gas transportation.
As further development of management system in OOO Tyumentransgaz, it is planned to realize a closer integration of PMMS with computer-aided manufacturing system, as well as with geoinformational systems.
OOO Tyumentransgaz, a subsidiary of OAO Gazprom, is the world-largest gas transportation enterprise. The company’s main pipelines transport over 1.3 bln cubic meters of natural gas per day – in total, 80% of gas produced in Russia is transmitted over them. Total mileage of Tyumentransgaz’s pipelines exceeds 26,000 km.
OOO Tyumentransgas is a powerful industrial complex enterprise consisting of 48 branches: 28 line-production offices of gas-main pipelines; stations of underground gas storage; three production-engineering offices with repair functions; three offices managing utility vehicles and special equipment; Logistics Department; Yugorsk repair and adjustment bureau; Yugorskgazavtomatika specialized bureau; Yugoskgaztelekom engineering communications office; Yugorskremstroigaz repair and construction group. The company’s personnel amounts to about 31,000 people.
