Guilford County, N.C., Chooses Lawson M3 Maintenance Management Software
Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) today announced that Guilford County, N.C., licensed its Lawson M3 Maintenance Management application. Guilford County is the first of the company’s traditional service sector - or S3 - customers to license a Lawson M3 product since Lawson acquired the former Intentia International AB in April 2006. The county will use the application to streamline management of its fleet of more than 150 non-public safety vehicles as well as track work orders and maintenance for county buildings. The contract was signed in Lawson’s first quarter of fiscal 2007, which ended Aug. 31, 2006.
Guilford County, an existing Lawson Enterprise Financial Management, Human Capital Management and Supply Chain Management customer, is North Carolina’s third largest county. The county has 2,700 employees, serves more than 240,000 residents and contains the cities of Greensboro and High Point.
“Lawson was the best choice on many levels,” said Fred Jones, director of Facilities for Guilford County. “Not only does Lawson allow us to consolidate core business systems with one vendor, but it also offered rapid deployment with our existing Lawson ERP system. And as a lead adopter, we’re helping Lawson demonstrate that its overall product offering, including the M3 product line, is well-suited to meet the needs of local governments.”
The new application will replace Guilford County’s legacy maintenance system, which required multiple points of manual data entry. By adding the Lawson M3 Maintenance Management application to its existing Lawson ERP system, the county will eliminate duplicate data entry and enable departments to submit and track work orders online. This capability will significantly reduce the time needed to process the county’s nearly 5,000 work orders per year. It also will help the county minimize phone inquiries from employees checking work order status.
With better maintenance tracking and management, the county expects the Lawson application to help it reduce the occurrence and cost of vehicle breakdowns. Individual county departments also will be able to quickly access data and create reports directly from the new application instead of having to request that information from the county’s Facilities department.
Lawson Professional Services will provide implementation services for Guilford County’s application roll out, which the county expects to complete within six months.
“Local governments need business systems that are easy to use yet comprehensive enough to support their complex operations,” said Ken Munson, industry marketing director, Government & Education, Lawson Software. “By offering a unified asset management and ERP system, we’re helping governments like Guilford County simplify administration so they can focus on serving constituents.”
Lawson serves more than 120 public services customers, including three of the top six digital state governments and four of the 25 largest school districts in the United States. State governments, cities, counties, school districts, publicly owned utilities/authorities and special districts rely on Lawson’s solutions to help meet the needs of a variety of stakeholders - constituents, employees, students, vendors and the community - while helping to maximize limited budgets.
