Fairfield City Council Selects SPL Enterprise Asset & Work Management
Project Enables Council to Optimize, Monitor and Manage Community Assets
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, APRIL 4, 2006. Fairfield City Council, one of Sydney’s largest municipalities, has selected SPL Enterprise Asset & Work Management (EAM) to provide an integrated approach to managing and optimizing the physical and financial performance of its infrastructure assets.
One of Sydney’s largest local government areas, Fairfield City covers an area of 104 square kilometers and incorporates 27 suburbs. The city is home to approximately 182,000 people and is one of Australia’s most culturally diverse areas; more than half its residents were born overseas. SPL’s EAM solution is part of the council’s strategic project to responsibly manage and maintain its publicly owned, built and natural assets for the benefit of future generations.
SPL’s solution provides real-time, enterprise-wide visibility into current operations combined with powerful performance management tools. The information produced by the system helps users visualize trends and make strategic, proactive decisions. Organizations can optimize asset performance and reliability, streamline and improve maintenance programs, maximize supply chain efficiencies and enhance safety and regulatory compliance.
“Fairfield City Council manages everything from roads, buildings and vehicles to playgrounds, reserves and creeks,” said Nick Lalich, Mayor of Fairfield City. “Putting advanced asset management practices in place will allow us to better allocate ratepayers’ funds, make more informed decisions and improve the lifespan of our infrastructure. Once fully operational, SPL’s Enterprise Asset & Work Management system will greatly assist us to look after our City’s built and natural assets, now and into the future,” said the Mayor.
SPL Enterprise Asset & Work Management will give the Council a comprehensive picture of what assets it owns and their location and condition. The system captures variables such as cost, maintenance and depreciation, and presents the information through an intuitive interface, making it easy for users to extract relevant information.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Fairfield City Council,” said Brenton McPherson, Vice President Asia Pacific, SPL WorldGroup. “We built our reputation providing mission-critical software solutions and services to utility companies around the world but the technology can be equally effective for organizations in other markets. This is our first big win in the Australian government sector showcasing the versatility of our EAM product and its ability to provide benefits to any organization that needs to manage an extensive asset base,” McPherson added.
