Preventive Maintenance Scheduling by Day of Week

From a recent post at MaintenanceForums.com

Has anyone implemented any Preventive Maintenance Plans to be scheduled by Specific Days of the week? We have a number of Gas Compressors that need to be scheduled for operations reasons on specific days of the week.

Example

Station 1 Compressor needs to be scheduled the first Tuesday of every month for a 4 hour PM.

Station 2 Compressor needs to be scheduled the first Wednesday of every month for its 4 hour PM.

Station 3 Compressor needs to be scheduled the first Thursday of every month for its 4 hour PM.

Because these are on different pipelines, operations schedules a 4 hour outage and shuts the lines down and everyone schedules their work on these days.

How can I get the Maintenance Plans to show the specific days of the week that the plan is due?

Putting Corporate Asset Management Programs into Business Language

An iPresentation Tutorial by Scott A. McWilliams, CMRP, SVP-Operations, MRG, Inc.

This 15 minute iPresentation gives the non-financial professional the basic tools to build a business case for reliability that financial professionals will understand and accept.

While Corporate Asset Management (CAM) has been a hot topic amongst global companies for the past decade, the demands of the transformational requirements (culturally, technologically, procedurally and philosophically), compounded with the time to achieve, often mask or even prohibit the visibility of bottom line financial benefits.

The question becomes, “How do we implement a Corporate Asset Management strategy so that real business value can be seen at each phase of the transformation?” In this iPresentation, Scott McWilliams focuses on the business tools necessary to communicate the business value to corporate decision makers.

Leadership and the SAP Plant Maintenance Tool

By John Hoke & Lorri Craig
Reliability Solutions

Using a software package to administer maintenance activities is nothing new to most of us. As a matter of fact, the vast majority are experiencing our second implementation of the latest and greatest CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System). We struggled with the first one just getting used to the complexity of using a computer and its awkward commands to do the things that we handled so quickly with the paper system of the good old days. In those days, the world was much different. There was no real pressure from Wall Street at the operating floor level, and we all seemed to remember the failures and what happened and why, and took the time to make sure it did not ever happen again. More…

SAP Plant Maintenance Learning Lab at RCM/EAM 2008

New Reliability Focused SAP PM Strategy Sessions & Learning Lab at EAM-2008

Enterprise Asset Management Summit
March 18-20, 2008
FREE Breakthrough benchmarking session - Reliability Leadership: March 17
Orleans Hotel - Las Vegas

You are invited to visit the hands-on Learning Lab –your ONE opportunity at RCM/EAM 2008 to participate in a simulated plant environment that will show you first-hand how to get more performance and reliability out of your equipment.

Get hand’s-on experience at one of the work areas in the Learning Lab that has a fully integrated asset performance solution loaded including SAP® PM, Ivara EXP Enterprise asset performance management software and Timken Status Check, a wireless system designed to detect and monitor excessive levels of temperature and vibration. You can experience a complete end-to-end asset performance management system from start to finish.

Picture this (one of many scenarios you can try live in the lab):

Imaging you are monitoring the condition of your critical equipment using visual inspections and various predictive technologies fed into EXP (so you get one view of equipment health). The latest reading fed into EXP indicates an alarm. It’s an abnormal condition that needs to be addressed to avoid functional failure. You acknowledge the alarm in EXP which creates a notification for corrective work to be executed using SAP PM. You plan, schedule and execute the work order in SAP PM and close the work order. EXP automatically records the potential failure and avoided failure costs. You view your up-to-date KPIs and failure history and are amazed to see the costs you have avoided –and how easy it was to manage equipment performance and reliability.

Not convinced? More reasons to attend…

· Ask the expert to answer your maintenance and reliability questions (about SAP PM, EXP or general problems related to maintenance process and practices).

· Pick up your EXP/SAP PM Asset Performance Management Handbook. If you use SAP PM (or you are about to), you need this book.

If you don’t use SAP PM…
Drop by anyway since Ivara EXP Enterprise Asset Performance Management software works with any CMMS/EAM. Experience first-hand how it can work for you…

And attend the sessions in the SAP track:

Hear from reliability and maintenance professionals at:

· ArcelorMittal Dofasco –Reliability Specialist Mike Schultz talks about how to plan for success & ensure your asset performance & reliability is maximized.

· Catalyst Paper – Ryan Sletmoen reveals how Catalyst managed through the hardest part of implementing a reliability program (managing the people).

· Peabody Energy – Neil Waugh discusses a rapid ROI approach to a multi-site reliability improvement strategy.

· Sappi, South Africa – Craig Read shows us how to manage calibrations with SAP PM.

· Southern California Edison – Darryl Barney talks about how they integrated 35 different equipment reliability and condition data sources with SAP PM.

· Open Panel Discussion:  SAP PM and Reliability, What’s Next? – Join Al Weber, founding chair of the SMRP, with a gathering of experts from many different industries for a lively discussion on hot topics, as directed by you - the audience.
